About this resource

Retirement information for educators, written by people who work with educators.

TeacherRetirementHQ.com exists because most public school employees are never given a clear explanation of how their pension, their 403(b), and any old retirement accounts actually fit together.

Why this site exists

Public school retirement systems are genuinely complicated. Between a defined-benefit pension, optional supplemental accounts like a 403(b) or 457, Social Security rules that treat educators differently than most workers, and accounts left behind at prior jobs, it's common for an educator to reach their fifties without a clear picture of where they stand.

This site was built to close that gap — with plain-language guides, an interactive checklist, and straightforward answers to the questions educators ask most often.

What this site is not

TeacherRetirementHQ.com is not a government website and is not affiliated with the Teacher Retirement System, any school district, or any state agency. Nothing on this site is a promise of a specific outcome, return, or benefit amount. Every guide here is general education, not personalized advice for your situation.

Who's behind this

This site is maintained by HavenPoint Retirement Strategies, a licensed Texas retirement planning firm, as part of an ongoing effort to make retirement information more accessible to educators.

Our approach

Three things guide everything on this site.

Plain language, always

If a guide can't be explained the way you'd explain it to a friend, it gets rewritten until it can.

Education before any ask

Every guide, the checklist, and the FAQ are free to use whether or not you ever schedule a review.

No pressure, ever

A complimentary review is offered as an option — never a hard sell, never a countdown timer.
